Demographics
as per 2011 census, the population of Manipur is 2, 855, 794. Meitei, Nagas & Kuki/Zo are major communities in Manipur. The Meitei is in majority and are basically located in the valleys of the region.
Topography
Manipur is primarily characterized by four river basins, that is, Barak River Basin, Manipur River Basin, Yu River Basin & Lanye River Basin and two physical regions, that is, rugged hills and narrow valleys and plain areas.
Climate
has amicable climate and primarily influenced by the topography of hills as the state is surrounded by hills.
Agriculture
Climate and soil conditions of the state makes it suitable for horticultural crops. Manipur is the largest contributor in India to the Bamboo industry.
Infrastructure
The state has huge hydroelectric potential but the potential is not realized adequately. It is a home for maximum handicraft units in the north-east region of India.
